What materials are used in custom rigid boxes?
Custom rigid boxes are constructed using three key material layers: a structural core board, decorative wrapping paper, and interior inserts.
Core Board (Greyboard)
DHP Boxes uses 1200 gsm high-density greyboard as standard. Thickness options range from 1.5mm to 3.0mm depending on product weight and desired premium feel. FSC-certified and recycled greyboard options are available for sustainable packaging projects.
Wrapping Paper Options
- Coated art paper — smooth surface for high-resolution CMYK printing
- Texture paper — linen, leather-grain, or wood-textured finishes for tactile luxury
- Metallic paper — reflective surfaces for bold visual impact
- Holographic paper — rainbow effects for cosmetics and limited editions
- Kraft paper — natural, eco-friendly look for sustainable brands
- PU leather — genuine leather feel for ultra-premium jewelry and accessories
- Soft-touch paper — velvety smooth finish, fingerprint-resistant
Insert Materials
Cardboard, EVA foam, velvet, satin, molded pulp, and PET blister inserts are available, each chosen based on product type, protection needs, and brand positioning.
